Youngone donates PPE, masks to help govt combat coronavirus

Youngone Corporation today began donating personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, and face shields to support the government initiatives to combat coronavirus.

Kihak Sung, the company's chairman and chief executive, came forward to manufacture "Standard PPEs" on an emergency basis and under special arrangements, to donate to the government, according to a statement by the company.

These will be used by front line service providers including doctors, nurses as well as other health service providers and members of related government agencies who are engaged in the field to restrict the virus from spreading.

The group will hand over a total of 25,000 PPEs, 25,000 surgical masks, and 25,000 basic face shields, which are being manufactured at Youngone Hi-Tech Sportswear Ind Ltd located in Dhaka Export Processing Zone.

The fabric used to make the protective garments and face masks have also been developed and produced by Youngone Corporation's textile factories located in Dhaka EPZ and Korean EPZ.

Considering the dire need of PPEs, the company is going to make partial delivery of the donation (15,000 pieces of the protective garments, 25,000 masks, and 1,150 face shields) in the first phase.

Abul Kalam Azad, director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), received the equipment at DGHS office at the city's Mohakhali area.
