Two die with Covid-19 symptoms in Khulna, Patuakhali

Two people died in Khulna and Patuakhali with coronavirus-like symptoms this morning.

Officials are testing their samples for Covid-19 and have placed their homes under lockdown. People who came in contact with them were asked to quarantine themselves.

In Khulna's Rupsha upazila, a 43-year-old man died this morning after suffering from fever, cold, cough and breathing problem for five days, our district correspondent reported.

The man was brought to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) around 7:45am, however he died on the way to the hospital, said Dr Ashikur Rahman, emergency medical officer of KMCH.

We collected his sample for coronavirus test, the doctor said.   

He was involved in mobile servicing work and worked in different areas, relatives of the deceased said.

A 65-year-old died at Patuakhali General Hospital within an hour after admission this morning.

The man had been suffering from cough and breathing problem since long and his condition got worse after developing fever since yesterday, said Dr Mohammad Abdul Baten, superintendent of the hospital.

He was brought to the hospital around 7:00am today and died after a while, the doctor said.

"We have collected his samples for coronavirus test," he added.

House of the deceased and some neighbours' houses have been locked down after his death, Mohammad Jahangir Alam, civil surgeon of Patuakhali said.

He would be buried following the Covid-19 protocols, he added.
