Took vaccine to save life, not for photo session: finance minister
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said he took Covid-19 vaccine in order to remain safe and not for publicity through photo session.
The minister made the remark while talking to journalists after a virtual meeting of a Cabinet committee on finance related aspects.
He informed that he took the vaccine at Sheikh Russel Gastro-liver Hospital in the capital yesterday.
As journalists requested for photo of him taking Covid-19 vaccine, the minister said, "I took the vaccine to save my life, not for photo session".
"Many people have lost their lives. It is really unfortunate."
"I have noticed many are taking vaccine to have photos for publicity. I didn't want to keep any such record," he said.
"You may use me as a reference to give this message to everyone that one will be able to save his or her life by taking the vaccine, and also save others," the minister said.
Referring to his experience of taking the vaccine, Kamal said, "It was just like taking any other vaccine… just a prick, and that was all."
"I had taken other vaccines in childhood. Sometimes there was fever, body ache. This time there has not been any fever or body ache. I am doing fine," the minister also said.
"Please, everyone get vaccinated," he added.
