Steps to be taken if healthcare providers are not allowed into homes: DMP

Also asks law enforcers to ensure Covid-19 patients can get treated at home

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam today directed police to take necessary steps if healthcare service providers face any trouble in entering their homes after they return from their jobs every day.

The DMP commissioner also instructed police officials to make sure anyone suffering from Covid-19 or is showing symptoms similar to coronavirus can get treated at home.

In the directives issued today, the DMP chief said they will not accept it if neighbours, flat mates, landlords, etc. of doctors and nurses dedicated to treating Covid-19 patients bar them from entering their buildings after returning from work.

All field level officers have been asked to be alert in this regard.

The directives come at a time when reports of flat owners and/or neighbours are barring doctors and nurses to return home after their workday, fearing risk of contamination.

In many areas, neighbours and flat owners have also barred their neighbours who have tested positive for Covid-19 from being treated at home, at a time when doctors have already said most Covid-19 patients can be treated at home unless their situation becomes critical.
