RMG worker under isolation in Dhaka after testing Covid-19 positive in Pirojpur
A worker of a readymade garment factory, who had been on quarantine in Pirojpur and had his samples taken for coronavirus test, has been found positive for the virus after he returned to Dhaka.
"Police officials in Ashuliya confirmed that the 28-year-old worker has been placed in isolation," said Hyatul Islam Khan, superintendent of police (SP) in Pirojpur.
"We informed the matter to the superintendent of police in Dhaka immediately and they have contacted the man," he said.
"The man earlier went to Pirojpur on April 9 and remained in quarantine till April 23," the SP said.
"On April 22, his samples were collected for Covid-19 test and he was found positive for the virus, according to the report that arrived on April 27," said Shishir Ranjan Adhikari, Pirojpur Sadar upazila health and family planning officer.
But the man had left for Dhaka in secret on April 23 to join his workplace at a garment factory in Ashulia.
"We have visited his house [in Pirojpur] and have asked 10 members of two families there to stay in strict home quarantine. We have also contacted with the man over phone. He is doing well there [in Ashuliya]," the health official also said.
The matter has also been informed to the authorities of the garment factory where the man works.
"He has not joined work at the garment factory after returning to the capital," he added.
