Noakhali to be locked down from tomorrow

Star Online Report

Local administration today announced that the entire Noakhali district will be put under lockdown from the early hours tomorrow to prevent transmission of coronavirus across the country.

The lockdown will come into effect from 6:00am tomorrow and will be in force until further notice is issued in this regard, our local correspondent reports quoting Noakhali District Administrator Tanmoy Das.

A district committee formed to curb and prevent the spread of Covid-19 held a meeting and the decision is an outcome of the meeting, Tanmoy Das said.

The district administration, based on suggestions during the meeting, imposed restrictions at all entry and exit points across the district as part of the measures to contain the spread and transmission of the virus, he said.

The restriction will be applicable for intra-district movement and check posts will be installed at all strategic points on district roads to monitor the situation, the government official said.

However, vehicles of emergency services like electricity, water, gas, fire service and civil defence, telephone, internet, and those engaged in health and food sector will be out of the purview of the restriction, he added.
