Man dies with coronavirus symptoms in Bandarban

A 40-year-old man died with Covid-19 symptoms in Bandarban's Lama upazila this morning.

"After being informed by locals, we have collected his swab sample and are preparing to send it to Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Chattogram for Covid-19 test," said Dr Mohammadul Hoque, upazila health and family planning officer.

Samples of the deceased's wife and his brother have also been collected, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting the official.

Preparation for his burial, maintaining protocol, is under progress, said Md Mostofa Zamal, chairman of Lama upazila.

No information could be found yet regarding whether the person came in contact with any Covid-19 positive person, said the chairman.

All, who have come in contact with the deceased, have been placed in home quarantine, Nur-E- Jannat, upazila nirbahi officer of the upazila, said.
