Limiting coronavirus outbreak: Army to assist local admin at divisional, district towns

Army will start assisting local administration at divisional and district towns from tomorrow -- to ensure people are maintaining social distance and taking precautionary measures.

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said this at a press conference at his office at the Secretariat.

He also said in coordination with the district magistrate, army will evaluate the quarantine system of suspected persons and treatment of coronavirus infected patients in district and divisional towns.

Army will also evaluate whether any person returning from abroad is neglecting mandatory self-quarantine, said the cabinet secretary.

The district magistrates will request local army commander in line with the law for evaluating the situation.  

Bangladesh Navy will assist the civil administration in coastal areas of the country and Bangladesh Air Force will aid hospitals with delivery of necessary medical equipment.
