India approves home-based Covid-19 self-test

The Indian Council of Medical Research on Wednesday issued an advisory on its website for Covid-19 home testing, where an individual can test themselves without the presence of a medical professional.

The ICMR said it has approved a kit called "CoviSelf" for home-based rapid antigen testing, which will only require a nasal swab.

However, ICMR cautioned that this should not be used indiscriminately and only those who have Covid-19 symptoms and those who are in immediate contact of laboratory-confirmed positive cases should go for home-based testing.
