The health minister today urged representatives and government officials to join the Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

"We urge senior colleagues, members of parliament, ministers, secretaries to join the vaccination programme," the minister made the call while addressing an event as the chief guest in Dhaka marking "World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Day".

The leaders of the Bangladesh Medical Association will take vaccines, he informed.

He also said there will be an arrangement for registration support at the vaccination centers.

"The most hopeful thing is that the transmission rate has decreased massively. There was a time when it was more than 25 or 30 percent; that has decreased to three —wavering between three and four," he said.

"As per WHO [World Health Organization], it vanishes out slowly after [the positivity rate] comes down to three percent—if we can maintain it. We are in a good stage and we have to try maintain it," the minister added.

He asked people to wear mask to maintain the low transmission rate.

About vaccine campaign, he said, "All of those who were vaccinated are in good physical condition. We will start countrywide vaccination from February 7."
