First Covid-19 case reported in Chapainawabganj

A 30-year-old man has tested positive for coronavirus in Chapainawabganj, making him the first case in the district.

Chapainawabganj Civil Surgeon Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury said the man, a resident of the district town, returned from Narayanganj on April 14.

After his return, he was kept in an isolation centre. His sample was collected on April 15 and sent to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital for the test, he said.

In the meantime, the man went home on Sunday as he was not showing any coronavirus-like symptoms, which include fever and breathing problems.

"His test results returned positive for Covid-19 this evening," the civil surgeon said, adding that he will be isolated in his home and samples of other members of his family will also be collected.
