Dhaka to get 3 more isolation centres: health minister
Health Minister Zahid Maleque today said the government is going to launch three more isolation centres in the capital to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
The minister came up with the announcement this afternoon at an online briefing held at Mohakhali's Information Management System auditorium.
Mentioning the names of the isolation centres and bed capacities, the minister said the government initiated the plan to introduce three isolation centres -- one at Bashundhara Convention City with 2,000 beds, another at Dhaka North City Corporation Convention Centre with 1,300 beds and one more at Uttara's Diabari with 1,200 beds.
He also informed that government is working to prepare some more public hospitals including Mugda and Nitore for treating coronavirus patients.
Pointing out different measures to combat coronavirus, the minister said unified attempts are needed to defeat the virus.
He expressed gratitude to doctors, nurses, medical technologists, police, army personnel, media persons and concerned people who are tirelessly working to fight against the pandemic.
The minister also thanked private medical association for extending its support, providing personal protective equipment to the government.
