Dhaka Bar Association grants loans for 5,485 lawyers

Dhaka Bar Association has announced Tk 12.29 crore loans for its 5,485 lawyers for a year to face the situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

The lawyers will not have to pay any interest on the loans, the association's General Secretary Hossain Ali Khan Hasan confirmed to The Daily Star today.

The association earlier asked for applications from its 18,000 member lawyers in this regard. Of them, 7,500 lawyers have applied for the loans online.

According to the decision, lawyers with five years' experience will get loans of Tk 20,000 and those who have 15-year experience will get Tk 25,000 loans.

Besides, the lawyers who have over 25 years' experience have been granted Tk 30,000 loan and new lawyers will get loans of Tk 10,000.
