Covid-19 positivity rate shoots up in Jashore, now 49%

Covid-19 positivity rate is gradually increasing in Jashore as 143 more samples, out of 288, tested positive in 24 hours in the district. This raised the positivity rate to 49 percent, said Md Akhtaruzzaman, administrator of Jashore General Hospital.

The positivity rate was 29 percent on June 7 and it was 42 percent yesterday, reports our Jashore correspondent. 

So far, 7,701 people have been affected by Covid-19 in Jashore, and 84 people have died of the virus.

Meanwhile, 72 infected patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, Akhtaruzzaman added.

Jashore District Civil Surgeon Sheikh Abu Shahin said the administration is concerned about the current situation of the border district.

Movement restrictions have been imposed in Jashore and Nawapara municipalities from June 10 midnight to curb the spread of coronavirus.
