Covid-19 patient ‘dies by suicide’
A Covid-19 patient apparently "died by suicide" in Dhaka's Shyamoli early today after escaping from a hospital.
The deceased, Abdul Mannan, 41, was a manager of a house in Shyamoli area.
Selim Hossain, officer-in-charge of Adabar Police Station, said locals saw his body hanging from a jackfruit tree in front of a house near the Shyamoli Specialized Hospital around 5:30am.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Shurawardi Medical College morgue, he said.
Deceased Mannan was admitted to Mugda General Hospital on June 15 after he was diagnosed with Covid-19, the OC said.
But he fled the hospital around 10:00pm last night, he added.
The OC said they thought that Abdul Mannan had died by suicide and the lawmen were investigating the matter.0
Musa Azadi, brother-in-law of the decease, said Mannan's wife and two sons are also diagnosed with coronavirus. They are now in home isolation, he added.
