Covid-19: 7 dead, 435 infected, 507 recover in 24 hours

At least seven people died of Covid-19 and 435 people were infected with coronavirus in 24 hours (till 8:00am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In this time, 507 patients were discharged from the hospitals taking the total number of recoveries to 4,82,424.

So far, 8,182 people lost their lives to coronavirus, the release added.  The release also said the tally of infections has surged to 5,37,465 as 435 new cases were confirmed in 24 hours.

A total of 15,566 samples were tested at 206 authorised laboratories across the country during the time.

Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 2.79 percent tested positive. Meanwhile of the total tests conducted so far, 14.43 percent cases tested positive, the release added.

Among the total infections, 89.76 percent patients have recovered, while 1.52 percent died so far since the first Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
