Covid-19: 37 die, 2,459 infected, 1,546 recover in 24 hours
Thirty-seven people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.
The death toll now stands at 2,618 and the death rate at 1.28 percent.
Two thousand four hundred and fifty-nine people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
With them, the total number of cases in the country is 204,525 and the current infection rate is 23.14 percent, according to DGHS.
The total infection rate stands at 19.89 percent.
A total of 10,625 samples were tested in 80 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.
Meanwhile, 1,546 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, the DGHS said today.
The total number of recoveries stands at 1,11,642 and the recovery rate is at 54.59 percent.
A total of 609 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours.
Among the deceased, 29 were male while 15 were from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, two from Sylhet, three from Rajshahi, seven from Khulna and one each from Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions.
Of them, one was 21-30 years old, one between 31-40, three within 41-50, six between 51-60, twenty between 61-70, four within 71-80, one 81-90 and another was around 91-100 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
A total of 1,164 people aged above 60 have so far died from coronavirus infections, which is 44.46 percent of the total deaths.
