Coronavirus: 2 more die in India; 324 cases

India today recorded two more coronavirus deaths, taking the death toll from the infection to six and confirmed cases to 324, the country's health ministry officials said.

A 63-year-old coronavirus patient died at a hospital in Mumbai. The Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation said in a statement the patient had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and ischemic heart disease.

He developed acute respiratory distress syndrome leading to his death, it said.

This is the second coronavirus death in Maharashtra, which has registered the highest number of positive patients at 63.

The eastern state of Bihar today reported its first death with a 38-year-old man with a travel history to Qatar succumbing to the infection.

Earlier, Delhi, Karnataka and Punjab reported one death each so far.

The number of coronavirus cases rose to 324, which includes of 41 foreigners, after fresh cases were reported in various parts of the country, the health ministry said.

There is some worry for India after four persons -- two in West Bengal and one each in Assam and in the western city of Pune -- were found Covid-19 positive, but had not recently travelled abroad, officials said.
