Chittagong University professor dies of Covid-19

A professor of Chittagong University (CU) died of Covid-19 last night.

The deceased Shafiul Alam Tarafdar (54), a professor of the mathematics department of the university, breathed his last at 9:45pm while undergoing treatment at the city's Parkview Hospital, confirmed Mohammad Forkan, an associate professor of the department.

Prof Shafiul was admitted to the hospital on June 9 last after being diagnosed with Covid-19, he said.

Around 40 teachers, students and staffers of the university have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last four months. Of them, 16 recovered from the virus while the rest are undergoing treatment.
