Another police personnel dies of Covid-19 in Dhaka

Another police personnel infected with Covid-19 died at the Central Police Hospital in Dhaka this evening.

Jalal Uddin Khoka, 47, a constable of the Traffic East Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, breathed his last at the Intensive Care Unit around 7:00pm, said Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (Media) of Police Headquarters.

According to a PHQ press release, Khoka got admitted to the hospital after showing Covid-19 symptoms and tested positive on April 26. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to the ICU.

With Khoka, seven police personnel have died so far after being infected with Covid-19.

Hailing from Mymensingh, Khoka left behind his wife, two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

His body was sent to his village for burial.

Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed expressed shock over the death.
