4 of a Tangail family test Covid-19 positive despite having no symptoms
Despite showing no symptoms, four members of a family at Sakhipur upazila in Tangail district tested positive for coronavirus today.
Those confirmed are the wife, sons and daughter of a man -- a vegetable vendor by profession, who had earlier tested positive for the virus.
Dr Abdus Sobahan, the upazila heath and family planning officer, confirmed the matter to The Daily Star this morning.
Dr Sobahan said the district health department collected their samples on Thursday and sent those to IEDCR. Their test results showed they had contracted the virus.
Earlier on April 21, a vegetable vendor returned to his native village of Langulia in the upazila from Dhaka with fever.
On April 22, the health department collected samples of 11 people, including the vendor and his family members, along with those who came into contact with him.
The vegetable vendor's wife, two sons and daughter were found Covid-19 positive today, although they showed none of the symptoms.
"They were kept isolated in their house. Earlier, the local administration locked down 30 houses after the case was confirmed," Dr Sobahan said.
