32 public university researchers to study coronavirus impact

Save Youth Bangladesh, a Dhaka University (DU) based youth platform, has offered 32 youth researchers from nine public universities to conduct social research on different aspects including impact of covid-19 in the country.

The research programme funded by UKaid will be jointly implemented by the SAVE Youth Bangladesh and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), said a press release of the platform.

The researchers will also work on erasing misleading information, rumours and others over the coronavirus and its adverse socio-economical impact in the country, Aynul Islam, moderator of the project, also an associate professor of Dhaka University, told The Daily Star.

The researchers will be given financial support of Tk 5,000 per month initially for six months to be started from today and the support will be increased in future based on their activities, said Aynul.

The 32 students are from Dhaka University, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Barishal, Islamic University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University and Jagannath University.
