Thirty families of a building in Mirpur have limited their movement after a neighbour, who tested positive for coronavirus, died in a private hospital.

"The family of the 73-year-old went under self-quarantine while the rest of the residents of the building have limited their movement to save themselves and others from being infected," said Mostaq Ahmed, deputy commissioner of (Mirpur Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

"Residents of the building have sought help from police and we are assisting them," he said.

The families have agreed that they would not go out without any valid reason. If necessary, only one member would go out with proper safety measures and return home immediately, the police official said.

With the 73-year-old man, two persons infected with the virus so far died in the country while there are 24 confirmed cases.
