2709 India returnees to celebrate Eid at residential hotels

Nearly 2709 returnees from India who entered through Benapole check post will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr at residential hotels in quarantine this time. They returned to the country between April 26 and May 11.

The Jashore district administration has arranged for special food for them on Eid day. The administration will provide food in the morning and afternoon of Eid for those staying in Jashore Hotel and other places. Arrangements have been made to keep seven food hotels open in the town.

Authorities will arrange food to be delivered to these hotels as soon as those in quarantine also order food over phone.

The 2,709 returnees have been placed in quarantine in 29 residential hotels in Jashore, Benapole and other areas.

The government on April 25th shut borders with India after growing number of cases in the neigbouring nation.

Only stranded Bangladeshi passengers could enter the country with special permission of Bangladesh Embassy in India.

Most of the returnees are patients undergoing treatment at various hospitals in India and their relatives.

According to the district administration, 2,709 passengers returned to the country through Benapole port from April 26 to May 11.

All of them are kept in mandatory 14-day of institutional quarantine. They are sent home after being tested for Covid-19 with a negative certificate.
