2 children who returned from India test positive for Covid-19
Two children, who returned from India, tested positive for Covid-19.
Of them, one is a six-month old and another is an 11-year-old. The duo was admitted to the coronavirus dedicated unit of Jashore General Hospital, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Dr Sheikh Abu Shaheen, civil surgeon of Jashore.
Sources at Jashore General Hospital said, after returning from India, the six-month old child was in a mandatory quarantine with their parents at the hospital.
On May 18, after the completion of 14-day quarantine, samples were collected and sent for Covid-19 test, sources said, adding that the result came positive yesterday and the child was admitted to the hospital.
The 11-year-old child is a blood cancer patient. The child was taken to India for better treatment. They returned to the country on May 5.
They were in a mandatory quarantine at a hotel in Benapole. After completion of the quarantine, their samples were collected and the result of the child came positive for Covid-19. Later, the child was admitted to Jashore General Hospital.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Saleh said this is the first time any child from India tested positive for Covid-19.
"We are putting importance on checking the health of all returnees of India irrespective of their age," added the Civil Surgeon.
