198 stranded British citizens leave Dhaka for London
A total of 198 British citizens who were stranded in Bangladesh left Dhaka for London on a special flight today afternoon.
"A chartered flight of British Airways carrying the 198 British passengers left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 3:47 pm for London," HSIA Director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan told media.
Earlier, around 440 stranded British nationals left Dhaka on two special chartered flights of British Airways, arranged by the UK government in coordination with the British High Commission in Bangladesh, on April 21 and 23.
Another special flight will fly from Dhaka for London carrying stranded UK citizens, mostly expatriate Bangladeshis permanently residing in the UK, on April 26.
Bangladesh government suspended air communication with all countries except for China from March 16 to stop the spread of deadly coronavirus.
