115 new Covid-19 positive cases reported in Sylhet division

A total 115 new case were reported positive for Covid-19 in four districts of Sylhet division as per tests conducted at different laboratories in Dhaka and Sylhet on Friday.

With the fresh reports, so far 225 people have been found infected with coronavirus in the division. Two of them have recovered so far while three persons including a doctor died.

After Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital's Covid-19 testing laboratory received a swarm of samples, some 668 samples were sent to Dhaka last week and 78 of those tested positive, said Dr Anisur Rahman, assistant director (disease control) of Sylhet divisional health office.

Also, some samples were directly sent to Dhaka from Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts, and 21 of those tested positive according to reports received on Friday, he said.

Another 16 samples tested Covid-19 positive at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital's lab, said Dr Himangshu Lal Roy, deputy director of the hospital, adding that a total 167 samples were tested at the lab on Friday.

Dr Anisur Rahman said that it will take some time to confirm further details of the infected people and the districts they are from.

This is the highest number of positive cases reported in a single day from the division so far.
