Covid-19: 46 police personnel recover in a day

At least 46 police personnel who tested Covid-19 positive earlier made recovery today.

They were released from Central Police Hospital after their results came negative in two consecutive tests, said Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media) of Police Headquarters (PHQ).

With them, nearly 400 police personnel have so far recovered from infection.

Meanwhile, the number of total infected police personnel till this noon stands at 2,557, of whom 1,095 are from Dhaka Metropolitan Police only, according to a tally of Police Headquarters.

Eight of them died from infection.

There are around two lakh members of the force for around 17 crore population in the country.

The total number of infected across the country is 22,268 till today; meaning around 11 percent of the infected are police personnel.

As the Central Police Hospital is struggling to deal with the huge number of patients, police authorities have booked a private hospital to treat its members.
