Youth evading arrest jumps to death in capital

A youth yesterday died as he jumped off a three-storey building while running away from a Rapid Action Battalion team pursuing him in the capital.

Kayes Md Babar, 28, a resident of Shantinagar, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

On Sunday around 11:00pm, a team of Rab-3 went to Masjid Market at Shantinagar to catch "drug peddler" Kayes but sensing their presence Kayes jumped from the roof to avoid arrest, said Rab officials.

Confirming the jumping incident, Kayes' brother Matin only could say that his brother worked at his uncle's shop at Karnafully Garden City Market in the area.

A case was filed.
