Woman dies in two-storey fall in capital

A woman died after falling down two storeys in the capital's Badda yesterday.

The deceased, Shimu Akhter, 27, wife of an expatriate living in Saudi Arabia, allegedly suffered from mental illness.

Police and family sources said she may have committed suicide.

Kamrul Hasan Tito, Shimu's brother, told The Daily Star that she went to the roof of the five-storey building around 2:30pm and fell down to the roof of the adjacent three-storey building.

Shimu, mother of twin children, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.  

She was receiving treatment from a psychiatrist, said relatives.
