US to help mitigate global warming effects
The United States will stand beside Bangladesh for mitigating the adverse effects of global warming.
US Congressman Alan Lowenthal gave the assurance during his meeting with Bangladesh Ambassador to the US Mohammad Ziauddin at the Capitol Hill on Thursday.
They also discussed issues including adverse impacts of climate change on Bangladesh, said a press release of Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC. Lowenthal is a spokesman for climate change and environment protection and the incumbent chair of the Congressional Caucus on "Safe Climate".
Ziauddin said Bangladesh, being one of the least emitters of carbon dioxide (with only 0.3 metric ton per capita emission), is the country most vulnerable to climate change, and urged the developed nations to take measures to save the global environment from carbon dioxide emission.
