Two alleged abductors arrested in Savar

Two people were arrested in Dogormora of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, on Friday night on charge of kidnapping a man.

The arrestees are Md Emdadul Haque Mukul, 40 and Reshma Akter, 28.

Md Mizanur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Savar Model Police Station, said Reshma had developed a romantic relationship with one Md Kalam over the last seven months.

Then as a part of their plan to hold Kalam for ransom, Reshma invited him to her flat on Thursday night.

When he reached there a group of about six men, who were lying in wait, detained him and demanded a ransom of Tk 2 lakh, said the police official.

"The criminals also beat him up for ransom money and the victim paid Tk 30,000 over bKash," said Mizanur.

On information, police in a drive rescued the man and arrested the duo.

Mizanur said the arrestees, during primary interrogation, confessed that they have been involved in crimes such as this for long.
