The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chittagong division on Sunday arrested a key accused in the murder of Chittagong University student Taposh Sarkar on December 14 last year.

Shaharid Shuvo, a third year English student, who is the third accused in the case, was arrested in the city's Lalkhan Bazar and was produced before a court with a five-day remand prayer, police officials said.

Taposh, a freshman of the Sanskrit department, a BCL activist, was shot dead at Shah Amanat dormitory of the university during a clash between two factions of BCL CU unit over establishing supremacy on the campus.

Prime accused Ashrafuzzaman Asha, a central leader of the CU unit, is still at large.

Police have so far arrested 16 out of the 30 accused. However, all of them, except Shuvo, are now out on bail.
