Ten injured in gas cylinder explosion
Ten people including a woman and her daughter were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in a room used as a factory in Old Dhaka last evening.
Lipi Akhter, 25, with 28 percent burns and her one-and-half-year-old daughter Ria with 25 percent were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said doctors.
Lipi said she along with her daughter went to the first floor of a six-storey building seeking alms.
A fire was originated due to the explosion in the room of the building on Kobiraj lane in Shakhari Bazar area, Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Different floors of the building are used as factories, he said, adding that the building owner lives on the fifth floor.
Five fire fighting units doused the blaze in 35 minutes, said officials of Sadarghat Fire Service Station.
