Sylhet Jatra actor dies on stage

Veteran Jatra artist and director Nibaron Chandra Das died of a heart failure while acting in a jatra (traditional open air folk theatre) in Kabi Nazrul auditorium of Sylhet on Friday, aged 55.

He was also the director of the jatra by Bhhati Bangla Natyagoshty of Dirai, Sunamgonj.

During the last day of Nandik Natyadal's silver jubilee celebration, they were staging the play "Goriber Aartonad" when he became sick and was rushed to RRMC hospital, where the doctors declared him dead, said Supriya Deb Shanto, convener of the festival.
