Sust teacher sued for reckless driving that killed two
A case has been filed against Prof Dr Ariful Islam of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (Sust), in connection with a road crash that killed two people on campus on Saturday.
College teacher Ataur Rahman and his uncle Gias Uddin were killed when Ariful's car knocked them down near the campus. Ataur's daughter, Selina, was also injured in the incident.
Deceased Ataur's wife filed the case under sections 279, 304 and 388 of the penal code with Jalalabad Police Station on Sunday night.
Witnesses said Prof Ariful, head of Mechanical Engineering department, was driving the car while his driver sitting beside when the accident took place.
Ariful and his family went into hiding after the incident and his phone was switched off, said police.
Prof Kamruzzman Chowdhury, Sust proctor, said an investigation body was formed in this regard.
