Stop illegal extraction of white clay in Netrakona: HC

The High Court has ordered the government to immediately stop unauthorised extraction of white clay from three mouzas of Netrokona.

The court also issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain in three weeks why unplanned cutting of hills and hillocks and indiscriminate and unauthorised extraction of white clay in Arapara, Panchkahaniya and Maizpur mouzas under Durgapur upazila should not be declared illegal.

The HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Shahidul Huq came up with the order and rule on Monday after hearing a writ petition filed by Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association in November last year.
