Stalker jailed for acid attack in Sylhet

A Sylhet court sentenced a stalker to 14 years prison yesterday for throwing acid on a teenage girl in 2012.

The convict was Md Laike Ahmed, 28, son of Tobarak Ali of Birahimpur village in Dakhin Surma upazila of Sylhet District.

The court also fined Laike Tk 50,000, in default he will have to serve six more months.

On February 25th, Laike, out of anger, threw acid at the victim while she was sleeping at her home, after she had spurned his countless lewd proposals.

A case was filed in this regard by the victim's father.
