Speedy probe sought in Nawhata municipal mayor Gofur killing case

The family of slain Nawhata municipality mayor Abdul Gofur yesterday in Rajshahi city demanded a speedy investigation and trial into his killing case pending for last one year.

Abdul Gofur, an Awami League leader, went missing on January 1, 2015 and on March 3 police exhumed his decomposed body from the capital's Azimpur graveyard where he was buried as an anonymous person, said Gafur's son Faysal Ahmed Runu at a human chain formed marking Gofur's first death anniversary.

Poba police, who arrested Gofur's business partner Jannatul Salma Meem and five other people, hope to solve the case soon.
