Six arrested for pirating Bangabandhu’s ‘Oshomapto Attojiboni’
Police last night arrested six persons including a printing press owner from Dhaka's Lalbagh area on charge of pirating "Oshomapto Attojiboni" the autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The arrestees are: Nazibullah (43), the press owner; his employees -- Rakibul Islam (30), Sanwar Hossain (45), Tofazzal Sheikh (40), Lalchan Sheikh (35) and Sadek Sheikh (40).
A Dhaka Court today sent them to jail after Sub-inspector Lutfar Rahman of Lalbagh Police Station produced them before it, seeking seven-day remand prayer.
Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas allowed Lutfar, the investigation officer of the case, to interrogate the arrestees for three days at jail gate.
Lutfar said they conducted a drive last night and arrested the six persons based on complaint from the publishing house, The University Press Limited.
Police recovered 1,500 pirated copies of "Oshomapto Attojiboni" and 1,500 copies of three other books during the drive.
