Seven doping gang members arrested

Detective Branch of police arrested seven members of a gang, which dopes people to mug them, in the capital's Mirpur early yesterday.

The detectives conducted drives in different parts of Mirpur area and arrested the seven with different types of sedatives, said Mahmud Naser Jony, an assistant commissioner of DB (west division) who led the drive.

The arrestees are -- Mahatab Mridha, ringleader of the gang, his associates Afzal Hossain, Hanif Howladher, Sentu Akan, Jakir Hossain, Md Shamim and Md Khokon Sarker.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque instructed the Dhaka Metropolitan Police authorities to intensify vigilance to arrest muggers, extortionists, and other criminals, said a press release of the Police Headquarters.
