SC upholds bail of SQ Chy's lawyer in draft verdict leak case

The Supreme Court yesterday upheld a High Court order that granted bail to AKM Fakhrul Islam, a lawyer for executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, in a case filed for leaking draft of Salauddin's verdict a day before International Crimes Tribunal-1 delivered the judgment.

Chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the SC Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed "no order" on a petition filed by the government seeking stay on the HC order that granted him bail. Fakhrul's lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon told The Daily Star that there was no legal bar to his client's release from jail following the SC order.
