The Supreme Court yesterday stayed till February 29 a High Court verdict that granted bail to Barrister Shakila Farjana, a Supreme Court lawyer, in two cases filed on charge of financing militants.

A chamber judge passed the order in response to two government petitions seeking a stay on the HC verdict. The judge also placed the petitions for a full bench hearing on February 29.

Earlier on February 22, Shakila Farjana secured bail from the HC in two cases.

Shakila along with two other lawyers Hasanuzzaman Liton and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon were arrested from Dhanmondi in the capital on August 18 last year for their alleged involvement in funding a Chittagong-based militant outfit.
