'Robber' arrested after 'gunfight' in Dhamrai

Police arrested an alleged robber with a truck after a gunfight with his cohorts in Dhulivita of Dhamrai, outside the capital, early Saturday.

The arrestee is Shahin, 30, of Patuakhali.
A gang of 12/13 robbers stormed into a cement and steel shop -- Towhid Steel Corporation -- and took the security guards hostage under gunpoint, said Alomgir Hossain, sub-inspector of Dhamrai Police Station.

Seeing a petrol team of police there, the criminals started firing at them and tried to run away on the truck. Police also fired back and arrest Shahin, he added.
