Road crashes kill five, injure 11

Our Gaibandha correspondent reports, a person was killed and five others were injured when an iron-laden truck hit a roadside tree and fell into a ditch at Dakhin Burail on Fulchhari-Balashi road yesterday.

The deceased was Aka Mia, 30. The injured were sent to Fulchhari Health Complex.

Our Bogra correspondent reports, Nofer Uddin, 60, of Sherpur upazila, died as he fell on Bogra-Dhaka highway after being hit by a motorcycle and then a bus ran him over at Mirzapur yesterday.

The motorcyclist Abdul Hamid, 28, of Matail Chapor village, also skidded off the road and was admitted to Sherpur Health Complex with injuries.

Meanwhile, three auto-rickshaw passengers were injured when a bus hit the vehicle at Noymail in Shahjahan upazila.

Shahidul Islam, 45, Rahima Begum, 50 and Ayub Ali, 56, were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH).

In another incident, two persons were injured when a bus hit a stationary covered-van  at Dhankundi in Sherpur upazila.

The van driver, Jashim Uddin, 30, and his helper Abdus Salam, 26, were admitted to SZMCH.

Our Natore correspondent adds, two truck helpers, Razu Hossain, 22, of Natore sadar upazila, and Rabiul Islam, 30, of Baraigram upazila, died when the vehicle collided head-on with a bus in Airmari bridge area.

Meanwhile, an unidentified lorry driver died when the vehicle collided with an oncoming bus at Karbala on Natore-Dhaka highway.
