Road crashes kill five

Five people were killed and 15 others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.

Our Munshiganj correspondent reports, four people were killed and three others injured as a pick-up van veered out of control at Bitikandhi in Bhaberchar on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gazaria upazila yesterday.

The dead were Khalil, 32, son of Ali Ahmed, Mamun, 27, son of Ayub Ali, Tajam Uddin, 25, son of Akkas Ali, and Saddam Hossain, 35, son of Abdus Sobhan, of Comilla district.

Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports, Md Shihab, 9, son of Sher Mohammad of Sadar upazila, died when an auto-rickshaw hit him at Sukandighi village while he was crossing a road yesterday.

Meanwhile, Baby Ara, 6, daughter of Shamser Ali of Bholahat upazila, was killed and 12 others were injured when a shallow-engine-run three-wheeler fell into a roadside ditch at  Folimari in the upazila. Five of the injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
