Road crashes kill 9

Including highway police, injure 45

Eight people were killed and 45 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday and Saturday.

In Rajbari, five people were killed and 34 others injured in a head-on-collision between two buses on Kushtia-Gualondo highway in Daulatdia upazila yesterday.

The deceased were Zakir Hossain, Asaduzzaman, Abdur Rahim, Asgor Ali, and Abu Shama.

Following the incident, vehicular traffic came to a halt on the highway for two hours.

In Barisal, three people, including an on-duty highway police, were killed and six others injured when a bus rammed into a three-wheeler and hit the cop and a pedestrian on Barisal-Dhaka highway near Gournadi Bus Stand yesterday.

The deceased were Zahid Hossain, 35, a constable of Gournadi Highway Police Station, Siraj Sardar, 56, and Shahjada Sharif, 44.

In Mymensingh, Babu Miah, 20, of Shimulpara was killed and five others were injured when a bus turned turtle on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Jamirdia area of Bhaluka upazila on Saturday night.
