Road crashes kill 8, injure 23

Eight people were killed and 23 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday and Tuesday.

In Sirajganj, five people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch as hit a truck and another bus minutes after the two vehicles met a head-on collision at Khalkula on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway in Tarash upazila on Tuesday night.

Three of the deceased were Badsha Miah, 42, of Pangasi village, Atab Ali, 35, of Vodrokol village and Mojahar Ali, 40, of Natore.

In Pirojpur, Idris Ali Akan, 38, of Uttar Mithakhali village was killed when a motorcycle hit him on Mathbaria-Tushkhali road in Bairatawla village of in Mathbaria upazila on Tuesday night.

In Comilla, two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Comilla-Brahmanbaria Regional Highway in Songchail area of Debidwar upazila yesterday.

The deceased were Abdul Aziz, 75, of Sholoshala and Morium Jahan, 15, of Brahmanbaria. Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.
