Road crashes kill 5, injure 1

Four people were killed and another was injured as a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Pabna highway at Shamolipara in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj on Monday night.

The deceased were Phul Chand, 50, driver of the three-wheeler, Bachchu Miah, 20, Alamgir Hossain, 25, and Biplob Hossain, 22. All hailed from Pabna Sadar.

In Chapainawabganj Sadar, Abed Ali, 50, of Quarterpara was killed when an ambulance fell into a roadside ditch under a broken culvert on Chapainawabganj-Gomostapur road at Sarjan yesterday.

The culvert collapsed due to heavy rainfall at night disrupting vehicular movement on the both side of the road, said police.
