Rapist gets life term in Pirojpur

A Pirojpur court sentenced a fugitive rapist to life imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Tipu Sheikh, 35, of Nazirpur upazila, raped a 20-year-old girl at Baniary village while she was going to her sister's house on March 29, 2007. The court also fined Tipu Tk 1 lakh.

The court acquitted another accused in the case, Liton, as the prosecution failed to prove his involvement.
